Clay Pumpkin Carving Workshop

Skip the messy pumpkin guts this year and create a Halloween keepsake you’ll treasure forever! In this seasonal workshop, you’ll design, carve, and decorate your very own ceramic pumpkin in a cozy, creative studio setting. No experience needed, just bring your ideas and a little spooky spirit.

We’ll provide a pre-made leather-hard pumpkin that’s ready for carving, plus all the tools, underglaze colors, and guidance you’ll need to make it uniquely yours. Sip warm apple cider, snack on Halloween treats, and enjoy a festive fall atmosphere while you work.

Your ceramic Jack O’ Lantern will be fired, finished, and ready for pick up within two weeks. Take home a one-of-a-kind pumpkin that will never rot, never fade, and can be brought out year after year.

What to expect

Classes cover basic wheel-throwing techniques and are appropriate for ages 8 and up. During your private lesson you will center the clay on a potters wheel to create a basic cylinder shape, this cylinder is then transformed into your desired shape: Most students are able to create bowls, cups and vases during their first lesson. Private sessions are small, up to three students, and designed for individual attention so that each student can develop skills in a relaxed environment. 

Terms

  • Private lessons are $100/person for a 2 hour lesson.
  • A private lesson includes up to 2 completed pieces which will be ready for pick up 3-4 weeks after your lesson.
  • Additional fees apply if you want to keep any additional pieces you make. The cost is $20/piece which includes trimming, bisque firing and glazing.
  • To reschedule or request a cancellation and/or refund, you must email shanabpottery@gmail.com within 24 hours of your scheduled lesson.
  • Payment is due prior to the lesson, and 24 hours cancellation notice is required for a full refund.
